Storage Hunters Open World Tier List
This tier list ranks decisions, not characters. Storage Hunters Open World is about profit, carrying capacity, route timing, and knowing when a shiny locker is still a bad buy. The best choice depends on your stage: a new player needs safe flips and shop space, while a mid-game player can chase Cargo Ship events, stronger mutations, and higher net-worth routes.

Ranking criteria
S-tier choices create clear profit or unlock important progression. A-tier choices are strong but need the right context. B-tier choices help when you are blocked by capacity, cash flow, or collection goals. C-tier choices can still matter, but they are risky, too narrow, or easy to overpay for. Every ranking should be rechecked after major updates because item values, event rewards, and mutation tables can shift.
S tier
Secret mutation sits at the top of current community/media multiplier tables with a reported 50x value. Void is also an elite target at 35x and is easier to reason about because it appears consistently in multiple public mutation lists. A high-base-value item with one of these labels can justify a more aggressive bid, but only while the bid stays below your safe ceiling. The Mutation Value Calculator should still decide the final number.

A tier
Hologram, Chrome, Timeless, Gem, and Diamond form the high-value mutation band. They can turn ordinary auction wins into serious money, especially when attached to items that already have strong base values. Cargo Ship access also belongs in A tier once you clear the reported 7,000 net-worth gate, because the event can expose rare containers, storage boxes, and vehicle-part rewards. Treat the random spawn timing as Needs check and prepare cash before chasing it.
B tier
Lost Items, shop upgrades, vehicle capacity, and gems sit here because they may not look as dramatic as a rare mutation, but they make your account stronger. Lost Items support collection progress and reported luck rewards. Shop upgrades reduce selling friction. Vehicle and storage improvements let you extract more value from each successful locker. These systems are especially important if you keep winning decent auctions but cannot move or sell items efficiently.

C tier
Dirty mutation and overbid lockers are the main warning signs. Dirty is widely listed as a value reducer, so it can make a weak base item worse. Overbidding is even more dangerous because it turns a good item into a bad deal. A rare label does not save a locker if the final price removes your profit. Skip low-value clutter, avoid emotional bidding wars, and keep cash for the next round.
How to use this list
Use the tier list as a filter, then use the calculator for the final decision. If a locker contains S-tier or A-tier value signals, inspect it carefully and set a bid cap. If your current bottleneck is capacity or selling space, a B-tier upgrade may beat another risky auction. If a page or video claims an exact best strategy without a checked date, verify it in your own session before spending rare resources.
