Mutations are the fastest way for a normal Storage Hunters Open World item to become exciting. They change sale value and often change how an item looks, which means they should affect your auction bid. The mistake is treating every mutation as automatic profit. A weak base item, a value-reducing label, or an overpriced locker can still lose money.

Public mutation guides currently list Dirty at 0.8x, Cobwebbed at 1.2x, Pure and Moonlit at 1.5x, Silver, Huge, Tiny, and Antique around 2x, Spotless at 3x, Gold at 4x, Firefly and Ancient at 5x, Corrupted, Wet, and Shocked at 6x, Diamond at 8x, Gem at 10x, Chrome and Timeless at 12x, Hologram at 15x, Void at 35x, and Secret at 50x. Rainbow and Black should stay carefully labeled because public information is less settled.

Multiple current community notes describe mutation stacking as additive. That means Silver 2x plus Gold 4x becomes 6x, not 8x. The calculator follows that assumption because it is safer than pretending each stack multiplies into extreme values. Secret and Void sit at the top of current public value discussions. Hologram, Chrome, Timeless, Gem, and Diamond are also strong because they can make high-base-value items worth serious bids. Dirty is the warning label because it can reduce sale value. A lower-tier mutation on a very expensive base item may beat a high-tier mutation on junk, so always compare total value rather than name alone.

When you see a mutation, pause before the next bid. Estimate base value, apply the multiplier, subtract the current price, and ask whether the result still leaves profit. If the answer depends on perfect luck, walk away. Mutations are powerful, but bid discipline is what turns them into net worth.
